The Memory Pouch© was formed by the thought of what to do with all my clothes stuffed away in the basement, or in the back of my closet. These clothes just sat there, suffocating in cardboard boxes and gathering plenty of dust. These clothes still meant something to me; I couldn't just get rid of them. I took these pieces of sentimental fabric and turned them into Memory Pouches©. Realizing that this could be an excellent idea to help someone else out in the same predictament, I went to my parents to explain my idea. They were enthralled to hear out my plan; a plan to take unused, old clothing, and recreate it into something you use everyday. For example, I could take a neglected pair of high school jeans that don't fit, and make them into something worth using everyday. Or maybe you bought a cute shirt only because it was on sale, and now it just sits in the closet. You could kill two birds with one stone by putting the shirt to good use and having something original! None of your girlfriends are going to have an Abercrombie carrying pouch, and none of them will have a Ralph Lauren outfit for their favorite stuffed animals! That's what I'm trying to accomplish.
I know there's a part of you that doesn't want to part with some of your favorite clothing. But if your are able to just let go for a day, maybe a week, I can turn it into something you'll be able to enjoy much more. Just imagine the possiblilities of your wedding dress being preserved for your future generations to see. Wouldn't it make you feel overcome with joy if you had a young daughter ask questions about how you and your spouse met, an you could pull a remade pillow or blanket, and show of how elegant your wedding dress looked? I know when I was younger I adored looking through my mother's belongings, and imagining how lovely her special days were. Those items she once valued were lost to time, and I wonder what could have been had this idea come out sooner. By imagining your possiblilities, I hope you'll come to the decision to just let go, and make use of something just gathering dust in your closet.
